Located on the outskirts of a town near Burra, South Australia, I found this old, ruined Sandstone cottage. Colonial settler cottages are an important part of Australia’s architectural history, as they represent the homes of early European settlers who arrived in Australia during the 18th and 19th centuries.
These cottages were often small and simple in design, reflecting the limited resources and harsh conditions faced by early settlers.
I captured this image of the ruined cottage at sunrise and wondered to myself who built this so far from any nearby civilization and who lived here.
